The museum was opened in 1983 under the name Museum of Transport and Technology in 1996 was renamed the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin. It is located on a former industrial and railway ground of 1874, on which is the depot of Anhalter freight station. After completion of the first construction phase, with the establishment of the characteristic new building, the house has 25,000 square meters of exhibition space.
The museum also includes the ARGUS-halls, built 1935 – 1941 as administrative centers with workshops for Argus engine society, and the depot for municipal services in the Monument Street. As part of building maintenance were overlapping sub-measures (repair / renovation / remodeling / renovation) controlled in the following areas: Waterproofing, fire alarm system, roof window glazing, roof renovation, burglar alarm system, escape and rescue routes, outdoor facilities, railways, Overhaul (Monument Road), roundhouse, humidification, building security (LKA) and more…
