The subway station Afrikanische Straße on line 6, first went into service in 1956. In 2012, the station was fully renovated at the rear track walls.

The following second and third step in restructuring has taken place. In the second section the porch and the two exits in south are fully rehabilitated. Under partial closure of the porch and under full operation of rail traffic were the two staircases completely demolished and new realigned.

In summer 2014 then the 3rd construction part, , the northern side, including the new construction of an elevator with penetration of the tunnel ceiling. Completion will be in 2015/2016. The measure from II. BA begins in the summer of 2013 and is expected to be completed in the summer 2016.
