Rehabilitation and disabled expansion subway station. Olympic Stadium, Berlin
Built in 1936 the station building serves primarily to connect of the neighboring large venues in the Olympiastadion Berlin and in the Waldbühne Berlin.
The work of the complete renovation and remodeling took place under difficult conditions such as maintaining the underground operation and increased political interest (the opening of the 2006 World Cup) and associated time pressures.
The Kondius AG was commissioned for the following services to the object supervision: The brickwork concrete retaining walls to the station forecourt were upgraded including the staircase and partly renewed.
In station building listed wall tiles were repaired, windows were replaced, the façade completely restored, roofs replaced and the historical ticket booth on the forecourt refurbished.
A platform has been completely demolished and renewed, the other platform only partly demolished and entirely reconstructed. Two train shop houses on the platforms has been torn down and rebuilt under protection of historic monuments.
For handicapped development two elevators were built to the platforms and through a newly manufactured tapping bridge (steel-concrete composite construction) connected to the station forecourt and additionally a Tactile Paving was installed.
